What to Expect When You're Expecting... a Fertility Consultation With Me
What Happens During a Fertility Consultation?
A fertility consultation is a personalized conversation about your health history, fertility goals, nutrition, lifestyle, and any challenges you may be facing on your path to parenthood. My consultations are designed to help you feel supported, informed, and empowered with practical next steps that fit your real life. There’s no judgment, no one-size-fits-all protocol, and no promise of a specific outcome. (I know exactly how that feels when you’ve been trying for a long time. It doesn’t feel reassuring that others tell you “it’ll happen.” It just feels dismissive, because why isn’t it, then.) This is a thoughtful support tailored to you.
If you've ever booked a fertility appointment and wondered what exactly you're walking into, you're not alone.
Maybe you're just beginning to think about trying to conceive. Maybe you've been trying for months. Maybe you're preparing for IVF. Maybe you're recovering from a failed cycle. Maybe you've been through the heartbreaking experience of pregnancy loss. (Me, too. I hold space for the special “Invisible Moms Club” nobody wants to be a part of.)
Or maybe you've spent so much time researching fertility that your browser history could qualify as a medical degree.
Whatever brings you here, I want you to know something.
You do not need to have everything figured out before reaching out for support.
You don't need a diagnosis. You don't need perfect lab work. You don't need to be "far enough" into your fertility journey. You don't need to hit some arbitrary level of struggle before you deserve help.
My goal is simple: To help you feel less overwhelmed, more informed, and more supported as you navigate this season of life, and to hopefully celebrate with you at the end of this journey when you finally hold your baby in your arms.
First, Let's Talk About What This Isn't
A fertility consultation with me is not a sales pitch, a lecture, or a list of everything you're doing wrong. And it's definitely not a place where I'll tell you that eating one particular food (I do love pineapple, though!) or taking one supplement or following one protocol will magically solve infertility.
Fertility is far too complex for that. Anyone who promises pregnancy is selling something I simply don't believe can be promised.
What I do offer is personalized fertility nutrition, fertility coaching, and wellness support that works alongside your existing care team. I can also offer researched guidance on troubleshooting IVF protocols that you can bring back to your doctor for discussion, as well as how to review the labs that come back so we can guide your nutrition and see if we can improve your IVF results. In addition to protocols, we have to consider if your body is in the best possible position to receive and nurture your baby, because having a protocol that’s optimal is only one piece of the puzzle, right?
As a disclaimer, I also want to be very clear that I am not diagnosing medical conditions, replacing your fertility clinic, or guaranteeing outcomes.
Why Fertility Support Matters
One of the things I hear most often from fertility clients is that they feel overwhelmed. Overwhelmed by information. Overwhelmed by conflicting advice. Overwhelmed by supplements. Overwhelmed by social media.
Overwhelmed by trying to determine what's actually worth paying attention to.
The internet has made fertility information more accessible than ever. Unfortunately, it has also made fertility information more overwhelming (and incorrect) than ever.
One person tells you to eat pineapple. Another says eliminate gluten. Someone else says dairy is the problem. Then someone tells you dairy is essential. (Ha!)
At some point, many people stop trusting themselves entirely. That's where personalized support can help. Instead of trying to follow every fertility influencer online, we focus on your body, your goals, your history, and your life. And your results.
My Fertility Story Shapes My Work
Before I became a mother, I spent five years navigating infertility and IVF. Five years of appointments, of hope that crashed into disappointment through 7 or 8 retrievals (honestly, I have lost count) and probably close to 10 frozen embryo transfers.
While every fertility journey is unique, that experience changed how I approach this work. I understand that fertility challenges are not just physical. They're emotional, financial, relational, and exhausting. Raise your hand if your fertility journey is screwing up your relationships right now, and not just your romantic one (I’m raising both my hands right now).
I know what it's like to wait for test results.
To count down to appointments.
To replay every detail of a cycle.
To wonder whether you're doing enough.
To wonder whether your body is letting you down.
And I also know how important it is to have someone who can sit with you in that uncertainty without trying to fix everything.
Ordinarily, I’d look at my case and say, wow, do not go to this person for advice!!
But what I want to share is how to help you avoid the mistakes I made. Five years of learning far more about reproductive medicine than I ever expected to know has really helped me spot things proactively or look at things restrospectively to figure out a better path forward.
Before Our Consultation
Before we meet, you'll complete an intake form and send along any labs and results you have to date. Take a deep breath; I know that can be a lot of paperwork, but I do need to see it to get a full picture of what may or may not be going on.
Depending on your situation, I may ask about:
Your fertility goals
Medical history
Menstrual cycle history
Previous pregnancies
Pregnancy losses
Fertility treatments and all results, all labs that were taken, and any notes you have about those cycles
Current supplements
Nutrition habits
Sleep
Stress
Lifestyle factors
Lab work you'd like me to review from a nutrition perspective
There is no perfect way to fill out these forms. Just answer honestly. I realize it might be a little segmented and out of order. We’ll put it all together.
During Our Consultation
The consultation itself is a conversation. We'll spend time discussing your history, concerns, goals, and questions. We'll look at what's currently working. We'll explore where additional support may be helpful. We'll talk about your real life. Because recommendations that don't fit your life aren't actually useful.
Some common topics include:
Fertility Nutrition
We'll explore how you're currently nourishing yourself and identify opportunities for support without creating unnecessary overwhelm.
This is often where we discuss:
Meal patterns
Protein intake
Hydration
Blood sugar balance
Food preferences
Practical challenges
My goal is not to create a perfect diet but a sustainable one.
Fertility Treatment Support
If you're pursuing IVF, IUI, or other fertility treatments, we'll discuss how nutrition and lifestyle support can fit into that process. We'll talk about what you can influence while also acknowledging the many things that remain outside your control.
Lifestyle Factors
We'll also explore areas like:
Sleep
Stress
Movement
Recovery
Daily routines
Not because you need to optimize every second of your life, but because fertility exists within the context of your whole health.
A Special Note for IVF Families
If you're going through IVF, I want to say something that I wish more people said. A failed cycle does not mean your body failed. A failed transfer does not mean your body failed. A miscarriage does not mean your body failed. A disappointing retrieval does not mean your body failed.
Sometimes fertility treatment culture places an enormous burden on women and birthing people to carry responsibility for every outcome.
But fertility is complicated. Embryos are complicated. Sperm are part of the equation. Laboratory conditions are part of the equation. Protocols are part of the equation. Timing is part of the equation. Biology is part of the equation.
One thing I feel strongly about is helping clients separate support from blame. Too often, fertility patients are made to feel responsible for outcomes they cannot fully control. Blaming the woman’s body for poor results becomes a blanket answer when providers don’t really know what’s going on, sometimes. I was told “you’re old” so many times I can’t even count, and really, all the provider needed to say was: “I don’t know why we aren’t getting good results even though you have great ovarian reserves for your age.” This is not acceptable, especially when most people are paying tens of thousands of dollars out of pocket.
My goal is to help you support your body without making your body the problem. Your body is always telling you something, like a small child who wants your support. We just have to listen to it and de-code the messaging so we know what it’s asking for!
What You'll Leave With

Most importantly, I want you to leave feeling supported and not buried under another list of impossible tasks.
